More than ten years ago Frank Robison, like many
other people, burned wood to heat his home. Despite the drawbacks
of burning wood, the lure of inexpensive heat was his motivation.
At a local fair,
in his native Michigan, Frank met a gentleman selling corn burning
stoves. The idea of heating with corn intrigued him and he purchased
one to test how well it worked. He was pleased with the results.
Being an entrepreneur,
he inquired about starting a dealership to sell and service these
corn burning stoves. In less than two years, Frank became the largest
corn stove retailer in the nation for this manufacturer.
As his business
grew, Frank’s customers began asking him for whole house heating
systems and shop heating solutions. His supplier didn’t make products
to meet these needs, so Frank decided to use the knowledge he had
gained in the industry and couple it with his manufacturing experience
to create his own innovative and environmentally-friendly products
to fill these voids.
Universal
Grain and Biomass Heating Systems was born.
Frank’s goal
was to meet consumer needs with safe, clean burning, easy-to-use
heating systems. His efforts were recognized and rewarded when,
at the 2007 national HPBA Expo in Reno, Nevada, Frank’s industry
peers voted the CH150 portable heater the best new product
in the biomass category earning it the coveted Vesta Award.
Today, everyone
at Universal Grain is committed to bringing Frank’s focus on quality,
innovation and the environment to it’s entire line of economic heating
solutions.
